Avon at the Southwest Schools Championships

Ralph Allen had 6 current students that were selected to represented Avon at the
Southwest Schools Championships held in Exeter on Saturday the 16 June. All athletes have
gone and represented Ralph Allen extremely well and have had some fantastic results.
Jamie decided to attend amongst exam period to attend and performed a strong series of
jumps, his best of 1.77 and gaining 8th overall.

Beth (y9) managed to make the final of the 100m running another Sub 13 second time and
unfortunately narrowly missing out on selection for the national final. Corey finally
managed to throw a PB of 51.47 after having 2 no throws in his first two throws so was able
to deal with the pressure of recording a mark.

Stan managed to run a new event of the 1500m Steeplechase, running the English school’s
standard on his first competitive outing at the distance. Adam ran the 1500m in the junior
boy’s category He was able to run a huge personal best in 4.32 to finish 6th overall.

Rosie attended of the back of her Barcelona trip and was able to gain third with a throw of
34.19. All the year 10 student have now been selected to represent Avon at the National
schools’ championships which is a fantastic achievement.
